Accountant Job Description by Science Exchange:Science Exchange is a fast-growing company that is building a new online experience for scientists. As an Accountant at Science Exchange you will be deeply involved in all general accounting functions for the company, with a focus on accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions. You will be responsible for maintaining account accuracy and will assist with monthly closings, account analysis and supporting the team in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance department.

Specific areas of responsibility include:Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable (including monitoring all related AR and AP documentation) Ensuring timely billing to clients including any follow up transactions and special requests. Scheduling and preparing disbursements, paying invoices Following up with clients on all outstanding invoices Assisting with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements. Preparing analysis of accounts as requested. Assisting with year-end closings. Monitoring and resolving bank issues including identification of receipts. Assisting with preparation and coordination of the audit process. Assisting with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures

Desired Skills & Experience:Above all else, we care about the right attitude and aptitude. After that: relevant Bachelor’s degree; CPA preferred. 2-5 years of accounting or other relevant experience. knowledge of general principles of accounting (GAAP), finance principles and reporting. prior experience in general accounting, AP and AR. proficiency in Excel and other MS Office. products proficiency in Quickbooks Online, Netsuite or similar ERP systems. attention-to-detail, strong communication skills, ability to show initiative and willingness to be a team-player are all essential.

Bonus: previous work experience at a tech startup.
